Quando si parla di Kabukicho, ‘amore’ è di solito l’ultima a cosa a cui si pensa. Questa zona di Tokyo è infatti famosa per essere il quartiere a luci rosse per eccellenza, con love hotel (hotel a ore con stanze a tema e privacy ai massimi livelli) e tipi poco raccomandabili a ogni angolo.

Ten years after Linda Linda Linda, which was also presented at Udine's Far East Film Festival in 2005, director Nobuhiro Yamashita returns to the fore with La La La at Rock Bottom. This time around, instead of a school's light music club, it's the vicissitude of Shigeo, an ex-convict, that acts as a backdrop to this ode to j-music.

After The Woodsman and the Rain and A Story of Yonosuke, director Okita Shuichi (1977) returns to Udine's Far East Film Festival to introduce Ecotherapy Getaway Holiday.
If in 2009's The Chef of South Polar the protagonists found themselves confined for a year in a South Pole base for work, the theme of one's distance from civilization is exemplified by seven over 40 women's isolation after getting lost in the woods.

Sembra ormai una tendenza affermata, messa in luce più volte dalla critica e dagli studi della scena cinematografica dark contemporanea, quella di confinare in secondo piano la dimensione extraumana e sovrannaturale, per soffermarsi invece sull’essenza più intima e recondita dell’uomo.
